Persistent Migraine Pain
Migraines in and of themselves are horrible, but if you suddenly find yourself dealing with the worst migraine you have ever experienced, you need medical help. What is often called a “thunderclap” headache by neurologists, this persistent and overwhelming migraine pain is often described as a clap of thunder that peaks in under 60 seconds, leaving you feeling like you’ve been run over by a truck. This is a potentially lethal situation—an aneurysm, where an artery has ballooned and could be set to rupture, or as already ruptured, causing bleeding in the brain.
Aneurysms can develop almost anywhere in the body, not just the head and heart. The two main kinds, cerebral aneurysms and aortic aneurysms are the most dangerous. While aneurysms can affect both sexes, they most often occur in men over the age of 65.
If you feel like you’ve been thunderstruck, don’t just take an aspirin and lay down. Call 911.
