14. Butter
As we have mentioned above, foods high in fat can lead to heartburn. Therefore, we would suggest staying away from butter, especially when cooking. Instead use a non-stick pan or cooking spray. Moreover, we all know that veggies taste a heck of a lot better smothered in butter, but try adding some herbs or spices to shake things up instead.
15. Candy
Like chocolate, candy can also increase the likelihood of heartburn due to high levels of sugar and often added vitamin C, which can lead to high levels of acidity. Instead, try eating candies made with natural fruit sugars and see if they have an effect on your experience of heartburn.
Heartburn Foods: Find Your Triggers
As we mentioned, you don’t need to necessarily rid your diet of all of the foods and drinks on your list. However, it is important to have an understanding of how these different foods and drinks listed above play a role in your experience of heartburn. Therefore, we would suggest keeping a food diary, which can help you monitor your intake of the different foods mentioned above and note how they influence your body specifically.
