6. Mint
Although mint is often used for its soothing properties, it can worsen the experience of heartburn. Like with alcohol, mint can cause the esophageal sphincter to relax. If you are looking for natural heartburn relief, try ginger instead either in raw form or in ginger tea.
7. Beef
As we mentioned, fatty foods can lead to an increased chance of experiencing heartburn. Beef tends to be high in fat, especially if it is one of the more expensive cuts like a filet mignon or T-bone steak. You don’t need to stay away from all beef, just try and opt for leaner cuts such as a top sirloin or eye of round. But don’t forget that leaner, less fatty cuts of beef can be a bit chewy so marinate them beforehand or prepare them using a slow cooker for a better tasting meal.
