8 Second Concentration
Technology has made it easier than ever before to get the answer to any question rapidly. All you have to do is ask Siri or Cortana or Alexa for help, right? Well, it turns out that relying on technology all the time reduces your ability to concentrate. If you really want to recall something later on, focus on that thing for at least 8 seconds.
While this might seem like a terrible length of time when you have a trillion things to think about, you have nothing to lose with slowing down for 8 seconds. Research has found that 8 seconds is the minimum length of time required for the brain to seize something as a short-term memory. The longer you commit something to memory, the sooner it becomes a long-term memory.
