Lupus

It is not very common, but hives can also show up in people with lupus. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that damages any part of the body, especially the joints, skin, and internal organs. It is so chronic that its signs and symptoms can last longer than six weeks, and may be accompanied by hives. In most cases, people with this disease will have severe redness on their skin and butterfly-shaped rashes on their noses and cheeks. These rashes will usually show up at random after direct exposure to the sun, or just before a flare-up. Another skin condition that a patient may experience is lesions. Unlike having hives alone, these lesions are not itchy.
