Eye Problems

Shingles can cause vision problems when the virus spreads to the nerves connecting to the eyes. Shingles causes photo-sensitivity, a condition characterized by eye pain when a person is exposed to bright environments. In severe cases, shingles can cause a serious eye infection known as pink eye or conjunctivitis. The condition causes inflammation resulting in the development of a sticky coating/deposit on the eyelashes. Pink eye can be treated by keeping the eyes moist. If the condition persists, seek medical attention. If left untreated, pink eye can impair vision permanently or cause blindness.
