Chest Pain
Chest pain is the most common symptom of a heart attack in men, but as mentioned above, it does not always have to be present during a heart attack. The pain can be described in one of two ways. Either the pain begins slowly and is characterized as mild discomfort, or it can be sudden—the classic “Hollywood heart attack.” Although heart attacks can happen suddenly, it is rare.
Some survivors say that the sensation feels like a tightness around the heart, as if someone had tied a rope around it and is pulling the rope tighter from both ends. That said, even if the pain is not something mentioned in this article but unique to you, you should not discredit it as something else. Listen to your body. If it feels wrong, it most likely is.
