Give them Freedom of Independence
It might be hard to know exactly how much autonomy to give your child. However, it is important to give them some independence. For example, it is important to let them make their own decisions, even if that means that they will make the one that it less than idea. Also let them do things they are capable of doing on their on. Even if it would be much easier to dress your three year old, let them at least try to do it by themselves (even if the end result will be a pair of pants that are both inside out and backwards). As a child gets older, they will want more and independence and you should allow them this privilege. The more responsibility they have, the better it is for all involved. It will be scary at first, but will be beneficial in the end.
