Join The Party
When you are depressed, you might want to isolate yourself and turn away those who seek to help. You might not have the energy to deal with friends and family or may be upset that they would have to see you in such a state. Unfortunately, isolating yourself from those you care about will only exacerbate the depression. The cycle of social isolation and depression is a vicious one.
Living alone or far from loved ones makes breaking the cycle all the more difficult. Once the depression begins to deepen, going out an enjoying social gatherings will be challenging. Instead of succumbing to the isolation, actively look for ways to connect with others. Invite one or two good friends over to your home, go to a party, dine out, take a trip to the local park, or simply go to the supermarket when the weather is good.
