Customize The Costumes
One-size-fits-all costumes are great when you are busy and can’t find the time to make something up yourself. However, most costumes have places that do not fit well. This can be hazardous, especially to younger children. Think about it. If your child is wearing a costume that drags or easily gets caught on the ground or tangles, they could trip going up stairs and get seriously injured.
Even if you are not experienced with making alterations, you should always inspect costumes before hitting the town. Make sure sleeves and pant legs are not too long. If they are, roll them up to a suitable length then secure the folds with safety pins. If you get the costume well in advance, you may be able to find someone, like a tailor, who can enhance the fit.
Another option is to make a costume out of items you already have that you know will fit. That can save you some money while guaranteeing safety.
