Partial Triplication 15
A disease without a real name, Partial Triplication 15 is possibly the rarest disease on our list.
Each of us has 23-pairs of chromosomes. In extremely rare cases, one of the pairs of chromosomes (the 15th) is longer than the other and has triples. Individuals with Partial Triplication 15 are unable to speak, suffer from epilepsy and are often required to use a wheelchair and rely on palliative care.
Only twenty cases of Partial Triplication 15 have been documented worldwide; however, it is possible that more cases exist and they are just unknown. Since so few individuals have this disease, there is very little research on this topic, which can also delay diagnosis.
