Appendicitis
Often the result of an infection, appendicitis is an unpleasant and painful experience and is the most common cause of emergency abdominal surgeries in the United States. The appendix can sometimes become infected with bacteria or get inflamed and fills with pus. When this happens, you need to act quickly to get it surgically removed before it bursts.
To know if you are suffering from appendicitis and not another condition, consider the following symptoms. Do you have a low fever, back pain, constipation or diarrhea, bloating, nausea and/or vomiting, an inability to pass gas, and poor appetite? If you answered yes to most of these, consider calling a doctor. Also, think about where you feel the pain. If the pain is dagger-like and located on the low right of your torso, especially when you place pressure on it, your appendix might be inflamed. Seek medical attention immediately.
