Heartburn
Do you have heartburn? This pain occurs after consuming a greasy, fatty, or rich meal and results in a burn up the throat and center of the chest, around the heart. The burn is the distinguishing symptom of heartburn, followed by a sour or bitter flavor in the mouth.
Heartburn can also be paired with acid reflux, or the regurgitation of half-digested food and liquid that has already mixed with contents of the stomach. The acid can sometimes move back up the esophagus, burning the lining of the throat. You don’t have to be concerned about heartburn once in a while, but any time it is chronic, you should get tested for GERD or another issue.
