Disease

Many diseases are connected to anemia. Any disease or condition that attacks the red blood cells or interferes with RBC production will potentially cause anemia. Some examples include HIV and AIDS, lupus, cancer, and bacterial infections.

Some inflammatory diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease, can upset the balance of the body. Crohn’s disease may also damage the gastrointestinal tract, opening up small tears that bleed.
