    Children are rambunctious and impulsive more often than not, but for those who cannot control their body and mind, because it is always on the go, they could be diagnosed with something could attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 8/4% of children between the ages of 3 to 17 in the United States have ADHD. For parents of children who have this disease, managing the symptoms can be difficult, and sometimes it might seem impossible.

    One of the ways parents can lessen the symptoms of ADHD is to turn towards proper nutrition. Depending on the nutrients the child is getting, the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can worsen or reverse. For instance, loading a child with ADHD up with sugar is a terrible idea, as it will trigger outbursts. Foods containing artificial sweeteners, caffeine, saturated fat, or processed sugars and deli meats are the worst foods to feed a child with ADHD. On the other hand, there are many foods with healing properties that can help children with managing ADHD. Opt for foods high in vitamins, protein, calcium, and other essential trace minerals.

    However, before getting into the list of the best foods for kids with ADHD, it is worth mentioning that every child is unique and deserves a diet that is personalized. Be mindful of allergens and other problems that could result from switching a diet suddenly. Always discuss a diet change with your child’s physician beforehand.
