Chronic Cough

Besides causing shortness of breath, chronic bronchitis also causes a chronic cough that is caused by the mucus developing in the inflamed bronchial tubes. The cough is commonly known as the “smokers cough”. Most people who suffer from the cough find it embarrassing and a nuisance. The cough is usually accompanied by phlegm, and it doesn’t go away. Bronchodilators delivered via inhalers are used to control this symptom. They are used several times daily to manage the chronic cough.
