Wound Infections
Another indicator of a staph infection is a wound infection, which occur when there is an open wound that the infection enters. If you have an open wound that is swollen, red, and/or has become filled with pus. A condition called Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (SSSS) can be the result of a staph infection. The main two symptoms of SSSS are skin issues such as a rash and a fever. It can also present as wrinkly or peeling skin that blisters.
