Natural Remedies

If you would prefer to go the natural route, you could try tea tree oil, which has antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Tea tree oil can help to kill staph bacteria. In order to use tea tree oil as a natural remedy, place a few drops on a cotton ball and apply to the infected area. Apple cider vinegar can also be used to kill staph bacteria as it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties- just make sure to use raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Simply take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar by mouth twice a day (or mix with water if the taste is too much to handle). Lastly, basil oil has also been found to be helpful and can be dabbed right on the infection or added to one’s diet.

A study published in the Journal of Microbiological Methods found that basil essential oil is effective in treating antibiotic-resistant forms of staph infections. It can be dabbed directly on the infection and added to the diet.
