Snoring Frequently
Noisy breathing sounds like snoring, whistling, wheezing, and rattling are disruptive to both other sleepers but also are a sign that your airway could be blocked. Dr. Lee-Chiong says, “Snoring…impacts sleep [in] 29 percent of global adults.”
Sometimes, snoring could result from a cold or allergies, which temporarily clog the airway; but chronic snoring could be a sign of something much more troubling: obstructive sleep apnea. If children are snoring, it could be a sign of enlarged tonsils. If you’re at risk of cardiovascular disease and snoring, please be aware that the vibrations from snoring could cause trauma to the carotid artery and leave it inflamed.
