Skin Tags
A skin tag is a tiny growth of skin that hangs off of your normal skin. For a long time, people thought they were completely harmless because they do not turn into cancer. However, a recent paper published by some Spanish researchers found that skin tags might not be quite as benign as we thought.
It turns out that skin tag growth is closely linked to insulin levels. Skin tags frequently grow when a person has a lot of inflammation, and a leading cause of inflammation is pre-diabetes. People who have skin tags tend to have higher insulin levels and have a resistance to insulin. This means that their body cannot properly use insulin to process blood sugar. Insulin resistance is a warning sign that a person may be about it develop type 2 diabetes, so those with skin tags may need to talk to the doctor about altering their habits and diet.
