Damaged Teeth
Constant cavities are often just a sign that you need to cut back on sugary drinks and brush your teeth more often, but there are other types of damage that may have more severe causes. Stomach acid is strong enough to eat away at the enamel on teeth, so those with acid reflux can end up with tooth damage.
The hallmark signs of acid reflux are damage to the teeth near the back of the mouth. The damage is often so significant that it can be used to diagnose cases of acid reflux that were otherwise going unnoticed. In many cases, a dentist diagnoses acid reflux before a doctor does. Since acid reflux interrupts sleep and increases the risk of esophageal cancer, it is a good idea to get a diagnosis and treatment for it as soon as possible.
