Small Patches of Baldness
Balding can happen with age, and it typically starts out as a receding hairline or a spot of baldness along the crown. This type of balding is perfectly normal, but you should be concerned if your balding does not follow the typical pattern. Baldness that looks like tiny, round patches of baldness scattered along the head is actually alopecia areata.
It is a type of autoimmune disorder that occurs when the immune system begins mistakenly damaging hair follicles. People with alopecia areata may have issues like hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s disorder. In many cases, the balding may be reversed once you start treating the underlying condition. However, it may not be possible if your disorder permanently destroyed the hair follicles.
