Bloodshot Eyes
If you have reddened, bloodshot eyes, your first instinct might just be to reach for the eye drops. It is true that red eyes are often just a minor thing caused by fatigue or caused by something irritating the eye. However, bloodshot eyes can sometimes be a sign of a more severe eye condition.
If the bloodshot area is a cluster of bright red in the white of the eye, you may have a subconjunctival hemorrhage. This is a broken blood vessel caused by injury, excessive coughing, or eye strain. It might look very scary, but it will generally go away on its own after a few weeks.
