Itchy Blisters That Cover the Skin
Do you notice that you frequently get a red, itchy rash with what looks like tiny blisters? This may pop up in any area, including the elbows, knees, back, scalp, or buttocks, and many people dismiss it as a harmless inconvenience. However, this can actually be dermatitis herpetiformis, a sign of celiac disease.
Celiac disease is a condition where the body’s immune system overreacts to gluten. The antibodies in the body can attack the skin, making a rash develop, and even if you do not notice it, they may also be doing damage to your intestines. Since the rash is typically the only visible sign, it is worth getting a biopsy of the rash to see if you have celiac.
