Impotence
Many men are embarrassed to bring up this condition, but it is important to be open about it with your doctor. The inability to sustain an erection is actually quite common, and it can be caused by some severe underlying conditions. Impotence can be a sign that there is some sort of heart problem going on.
Erectile dysfunction and heart issues are related because the body uses blood flow to sustain an erection. The arteries in the penis are far smaller than those in other parts of the body, so they are the first to display heart problems in many cases. Therefore, impotence may be a sign that the circulatory system is not functioning properly. Men who are over the age of 45 and have a family history of heart problems need to be evaluated by a medical professional.
