Nagging Cough
Whether it is more of a hacking noise or a light wheeze, a constant cough that just will not go away is always a sign that something is wrong. Chronic coughing means that your airways are trying to clear out something that is keeping them from functioning properly. Infections, asthma, sinus issues, or allergies can all be a cause behind a chronic cough.
In some situations, the cause may be even more ominous. A persistent cough can be one of the early warning signs of cancer in the lungs, throat, or larynx. Even if you have no other symptoms, you should get a cough checked out if it lasts longer than a few weeks.
