Small Red Lines Under Nails
Do you notice tiny little red streaks underneath your fingernails or toenails? These are splinter hemorrhages that are caused by a broken blood vessel. It can occur when you bump your nails, but if it is happening without an injury, it may be a sign that the capillaries under your nails are damaged.
This is typically caused by tiny blood clots in the nails, and it is often a sign of endocarditis. Endocarditis is an infection of bacteria that cause inflammation in the blood. It needs to be treated as soon as possible because it can cause fatal complications.
