Roughened Skin
Keratosis is a type of skin blemish that causes slightly rough patches of skin in light tan, brown, or black shades to appear. In many cases, the keratosis is a type of benign keratosis called seborrheic keratosis that grows on the chest, back, shoulders, and face.
However, you should be a little concerned if you get actinic keratosis. This keratosis grows on the hands, arms, scalp, neck, and face after sun exposure. Actinic keratosis is sometimes called an age spot because it is most common in those over the age of 40. You should regularly get these checked by a dermatologist because they may turn into skin cancer.
