A Swollen Neck
If you notice your neck looking a little larger than normal, do not just ignore it or start covering it up with turtlenecks. A swollen neck may be more than just a cosmetic issue. In many cases, it is due to a goiter. This is an abnormally enlarged gland right beneath your Adam’s apple.
A goiter can be caused by a few different thyroid conditions. In some case, it is an indication of Graves’ syndrome or some type of cancer. It can also just be caused by a deficiency in iodine. Your doctor will need to run many tests to determine the cause of the goiter and find a good treatment.
