Eisenmenger Syndrome

Eisenmenger syndrome is a congenital heart disease that results in a ventricular septal defect, or a hole in the heart, between the lower ventricles. The hole is problematic, because oxygenated (red) blood can mix with deoxygenated (blue) blood. Further, instead of the blood being transported through the body, it returns to the lungs, increasing the chance of blood clots and higher blood pressure.
