What are the symptoms of Morgellons disease?

Patients suffering from Morgellons disease often have the following signs and symptoms:

• Itching rashes and sores

• The sensation that bugs or parasites are crawling beneath the skin

• The sensation that fiber-like threads are running beneath the skin

• Stringy formations that are usually black (can also be bluish, red, or white) and seen beneath unbroken skin or erupting from sores. These fibers may look like black threads or colored sand, but they are actually an immune response caused by the body. The fibers are protein (keratin) and collagen and do not contain active infection or bacteria.

• Fatigue

• Inability to concentrate of daily tasks, due to the crawling sensation

• Discomfort from the itching and burning

• Short-term memory loss

• Lack of sleep

• Nervousness and anxiety

• Depression

• Aching joints

If you are suffering from a number of symptoms on this list, you should get to a dermatologist or general physician as soon as you can to get a proper diagnosis.
