What is Morgellons disease?
Morgellons disease (MD) is a rare and complicated skin disorder that is thought to be caused by a presence of fibers that are embedded in and erupt from slow-healing sores. Sometimes, the skin does not have to be damaged. Most sufferers of Morgellons report the sensation of a biting, crawling, or stinging on or under their flesh. Because of this, many doctors believe Morgellons disease to be a cross between delusional parasitosis and a dermatological problem.
The symptoms of Morgellons can be painful and life-altering. What makes Morgellons disease all the more devastating is the confusion surrounding the disorder. Not every doctor believes in Morgellons, and this can cause a lack of confidence within the patient.
