    Like other parts of our lives, our eyesight starts to weaken as we age. But while most people are caught up with eating wholesome food, exercising, and quitting bad habits, our eyes tend to be forgotten. Plus, there are a few eye diseases that strike as we get older, like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. Since we need our sight up to the day that we leave this world, you shouldn’t take vision for granted. That’s why you need to know how take care of your eyes as you age.

    Here’s what you need to know.

    Visit Your Optometrist Regularly

    Even if you don’t wear glasses or contacts, once you reach 40 years old or so, your vision begins to get weaker, and depending on your overall health, you could be at risk for things like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Visiting the optometrist regularly will help detect any diseases or conditions that could compromise your eyesight later in life. Also tell your eye doctor about any ocular diseases in your family, or if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, and other problems.
