All About Influenza
Influenza is seasonal and is strongest during the late fall and winter months. Annually, influenza affects about 5-10 percent of adults and 20-30 percent of children globally. During the peak of flu seasons, many hospitals are overwhelmed.
Three types of influenza exist: A, B, and C. Flu A and B are the ones responsible for seasonal outbreaks every year, and those are the ones covered by the annual flu shot. Influenza A is further broken into sub-types, such as H1N1 and H3N2. Influenza C is rarer and not part of the vaccine formula.
