Damaged Gums and Enamel

Again, your gums and enamel are prone to weakening as you get older. That said, your tooth enamel can breakdown prematurely when not taken care of. The enamel on your teeth can be damaged like your gums by flossing and brushing too hard.

Damage can also happen if you are not brushing your teeth regularly. Even as strong as enamel is, it can deteriorate if you eat a lot of acidic or sugary foods. Chipped or cracked enamel can allow for bacteria to enter the tooth, forming cavities. This can also impact your gums and may lead to gum disease.
