Dry Cough
Persistent coughing is usually an indication of illness and can be a warning sign that you have the flu. The flu virus is known to cause wheezing, coughing, and chest tightness. Sometimes, you may cough up phlegm and mucus from the lungs, but regularly, the cough is dry and can hurt your throat.
For those with asthma, emphysema, or other respiratory issues, you should immediately visit your doctor once you develop a dry cough. Flu has been known to cause complications like bronchitis and pneumonia.
Drink plenty of fluids, like honeyed tea, to help lubricate your throat and take cough medication to calm the coughing. Avoid caffeine.
