Stages of IBC

Most newly diagnosed cases of this type of malignancy are either stage IIIB, IIIC, or IV. The stage of your IBC will determine the treatment plan.

In stage IIIB, the disease has spread beyond the tissue of the breasts and is now in the skin, chest wall, or muscles in the area. It is often also seen in lymph nodes in the immediate area.

In Stage IIIC, cancerous cells have spread to lymph nodes that are further away, such as in the neck or under the arms. This stage has spread slightly further than IIIB.

In Stage IV, cancerous cells have spread to other organs such as the brain, bones, lungs, liver, or ovaries. This stage is the most difficult to treat because the disease is not limited to one area.
