Graves’ Disease
Introduced under hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease is considered an autoimmune disease. Those who suffer from Graves’ disease will have flare ups where the body releases an abnormal level of antibodies to attack itself. These antibodies mimic the thyroid-stimulating hormone, or TSH, that is usually produced by the pituitary gland within the brain. The thryoid gland, however, cannot tell the difference between these impostor TSH hormones and the real ones, so it gets kicked into overdrive.
Fortunately, Graves’ disease can be diagnosed easily and also can be treated. However, you want to have this disease treated as soon as possible, because if it is left unchecked, it can cause fatal complications.
