Skin and Nail Problems
Yet another reason that protein is essential is with the formation of nails. If you happen to notice that your nails are weak and brittle or they have white bands, brown spots, or ridges on them, it might be a sign that you have not been getting a sufficient amount of protein. Protein also helps with cell regeneration, which is essential in maintaining healthy skin since new skin cells need to replace dead ones. If your skin becomes flaky and dry, and there does not seem to be environmental factors at play, it could be yet another sign that you are lacking proper protein levels.
