No, the shot will not give you the flu, because the vaccine’s strain is inactive. This means it cannot infect you. A vaccine such as the flu shot is designed using a “dead” virus that your body will identify and use to construct antibodies that will later recognize active strains. Since you body is already prepared for the virus, it can go on the offensive much faster, slicing the duration and severity of the flu virus in half.
While there are possible side effects to the flu vaccine, getting full-blown flu is not one of them. In fact, you may even be dealing with the common cold. Or, you could have already gotten the flu before getting the shot and are now starting to see the symptoms.
