Congestion
Although congestion is more common with the cold, it can also happen when you are infected with the flu. Many people will have irritated sinuses and nasal passages, resulting in inflammation that makes it harder to breathe.
However, flu-related congestion can be dangerous for children and older adults. If not treated correctly, the congestion can spread and become a sinus infection, bronchitis, or even pneumonia.
