Sexually transmitted diseases
Sexual desire tends to decline as people get older, but it never entirely goes away. The CDC reported that there were 82,938 cases of STDs in 2016 among people 45 years of age or older. This was an increase of 20 percent from 2015, and the trend has been rising since 2012. The increase in the rate of STDs among older Americans is the highest compared to other age groups.
The primary reason why there is a rise in STDs among older American is that they are not likely to use condoms. Older Americans usually have one or more chronic health conditions that can weaken their immune system. This makes them more susceptible to getting an STD.
