    Other Conditions

While the aforementioned conditions are the most common for causing chronic pelvic pain, there are a few other factors to consider:

    • Musculoskeletal problems – any condition that affects the bones, joints, and connective tissues of the musculoskeletal system, like fibromyalgia, inflammation of the pubic joint, and hernias, can cause recurring pain in the pelvis.

    • Fibroids – noncancerous uterine growths that cause heaviness in the abdomen.

    • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – many symptoms cause chronic pain and pressure in the abdomen.

    • Psychological factors – depression, stress, and anxiety can cause chronic pelvic pain.

Although chronic pelvic pain is often complex and can be difficult to diagnose for some conditions, know that CPP is not normal—and you don’t have to live with it. By understanding the causes of feminine pelvic pain, you can better discuss the options with your doctor and get on the road to living a normal, pain-free life.
