Interstitial Cystitis
Roughly 3 million American women are affected by interstitial cystitis per year. This condition starts as bladder pain, namely a burning and/or stabbing during urination. Think of interstitial cystitis as a urinary tract infection (UTI) that is infinitely worse. This infection, if left treated, will cause mucin, the protective cells that line the bladder from acidic urine, get worn down. You will feel the need to urinate much more frequently—and each time will be extremely painful.
