Medications
There are many other types of medications that can cause dry mouth other than the ones used to treat diabetes. Muscle relaxants, sedatives, antihistamines are likely to cause dry mouth. Prescription drugs that are used to treat neurological diseases, high blood pressure, depression, and nerve pain can also cause dry mouth.
Certain over-the-counter liquid medications like cough syrup can cause dry mouth. This is due to the high sugar content that is typical in cough syrup. If you feel that the medications you are taking are causing you to have chronic dry mouth, then talk to your doctor about using alternative medications.
