Myth 5: Type 2 Diabetes Is Not as Serious as Type 1 Diabetes
If diabetes is not properly controlled it can be serious, type is unimportant. Even type 2 diabetics who can manage their condition through diet and exercise still have to be attentive and frequently check and manage their blood glucose levels.
It is imperative that people with either type of diabetes routinely visit the healthcare practitioners that are involved in the management of their condition. This includes regular check-ups, eye exams, blood tests, foot care and dietary advice.
Failing to manage your blood glucose levels can lead to heart problems, stroke, amputation or even death – it doesn’t matter if you are type 1 or type 2 diabetic.
