Don’t Try a DIY Approach
It should go without saying but if you believe that you or someone that you know has had a stroke then it is imperative that you seek medical attention. Doctors can provide medication that can help to reduce the clotting of the blood and surgery can, in some cases, decrease the amount of permanent damage.
Transient ischemic attacks, more commonly referred to as “mini strokes,” often present with similar symptoms of full-blown strokes but go away. After having one of these “mini strokes,” an individual is at an increased risk of having a full on stroke. Therefore if you, for instance, start slurring your speech for no apparent reason, do not attempt to sleep it off. Get medical attention right away. Also, don’t try to take an aspirin in hopes that it will help. It won’t, that is only the case for heart attack symptoms.
