Practice kindness and compassion.
Love is an infinite resource—and one that everyone and everything needs. Love is something to be given and received eternally, so make it a habit to spread that love and warmth. Do favors for others. Compliment them. Be tolerant and understanding. It will come back to you a thousandfold.
You must also surround yourself with the right people to love. It doesn’t matter if you are cultivating the other habits on this list if you go out and make it a habit to spend time with the wrong people. Avoid those who want pity, those who manipulate you, or those who are doing the very behaviors you are trying to curb, like smoking or eating poorly.
