Rewire Your Brain With Meditation
Meditation is a hot topic recently. With research backing up the effects of meditation on your focus, clarity, concentration, and more, it is no wonder more and more people are settling down and tuning into themselves.
A study conducted by the Massachusetts General Hospital observed the brain scans of 16 individuals before and after they took part in a mindfulness meditation. The researchers published their results Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging in January with the conclusion that, after completing the meditation course, those participants had an increased self-awareness and more compassion. Moreover, stress levels were greatly reduced.
Meditation comes in many forms, too. If the idea of sitting still does not appeal to you, choose something that you can lose yourself in. For some, improvisation dance is a form of meditation, while others might decide to go for a long walk or run. Tai chi and qigong are both options as well.
