What Nobody Tells You About Aging (Until It’s Too Late)

Fear of Falling

As we started talking about earlier, a loss of hearing can also result in a loss of balance. Pair that with less flexibility and strength in the muscles, and you have a recipe for falls. Now, this doesn’t mean you will fall often as an older adult—but you certainly start to feel like falling can happen to you anywhere, at anytime. In fact, a third of adults over the age of 65 are fearful of falling.

If you want to limit your chances of falling, one of the best things to do is remain active. Walking, jogging, dancing, doing yoga, weight training, and other activities will help you remain much more mobile and stable as you age. Not only that, but any weight bearing activity will help you maintain bone density, so even if you do trip or slip, you have a decreased risk of injury.
